Warranty
Every part comes with consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law — and many come with a manufacturer's warranty on top. Here's how both work.
On this page
Your consumer guarantees
Under the Australian Consumer Law, the parts you buy from us must be of acceptable quality, match their description and be fit for any purpose you made known to us. These guarantees aren't a fixed period — they last for as long as is reasonable for a part of that type, price and use.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
We're responsible to you for these guarantees as the retailer, even when a part shipped directly from the distributor or manufacturer. You deal with us; we deal with them.
Manufacturer warranties
Many parts also come with the manufacturer's own warranty. Length and terms vary by brand and product, so we show them on the product page where the manufacturer provides them, and they're usually included in the box.
A manufacturer's warranty is a promise made in addition to your consumer guarantees. It can add to your rights, but it never replaces or reduces them.
No manufacturer warranty listed on a product page? Ask us before you buy and we'll find out. Either way, claims come through us: contact us with your order number and we'll handle it with the manufacturer.
What manufacturer warranties usually exclude
Each manufacturer sets its own exclusions. Common ones in the aftermarket world include:
- Normal wear — brake pads and rotors, filters, bushes and finishes that wear with use
- Damage from incorrect installation, accidents, impacts or road debris
- Motorsport, competition or off-road use of parts designed for the street
- Further modification, repairs by others, or use with incompatible parts
- Corrosion or finish damage from harsh chemicals or a lack of reasonable care
Exclusions apply to the manufacturer's warranty
Your consumer guarantees still apply. If a part fails because of a defect — not because of how it was fitted or used — you're entitled to a remedy whatever the manufacturer's exclusions say.Installation and keeping records
Some manufacturers make professional installation, or tuning by an approved tuner, a condition of their own warranty. Where that applies we'll note it on the product page.
Whoever fits your parts, keep the installer's invoice, any alignment or dyno sheets, and your order confirmation. They make any claim faster and simpler.
How to make a claim
- Contact us or email support@osquaredmotorsport.com with your order number.
- Tell us what's happening, with photos or a short video, your vehicle details (make, model, year, variant) and, if the part was installed, who installed it and when.
- We assess the claim with the supplier and let you know the next step. We may need the part back for inspection — for valid claims we cover the freight.
- You get your remedy: repair, replacement or refund, as the ACL and the warranty provide.
Please don't send parts back without contacting us first — returns often go to a different warehouse from the one they shipped from.
Aftermarket parts and your new-car warranty
Fitting aftermarket parts doesn't automatically void your new-car warranty. However, a vehicle manufacturer can refuse to cover a fault that an aftermarket part, or the way it was fitted, caused. Check your vehicle's warranty terms, and talk to your dealer before major changes like tuning or suspension work.
